Ellen K. Bowser, MS, RDN, LDN, RN, FAND

Current Position: Co-Director and Nutrition Faculty of the University of Florida Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) Interdisciplinary Leadership Training Program. Ellen has over 30 years’ experience at the PPC which includes providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients with pulmonary and sleep conditions, education of students and interns, provision of continuing education, consultation, and technical assistance to local, state and national organizations. Her initial education was that of professional nursing, but her career path led her into the field of nutrition and dietetics. She also serves as Lead Analyst/Consultant for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Evidence Analysis Project. She was Lead Analyst for the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease project and co-author of the resulting publications. She was a member of the Cystic Fibrosis expert workgroup and co-author of several publications from that project as well. She co-authored the chapter "Nutritional Aspects of Pulmonary Conditions" in the American Academy of Pediatrics publication "Pediatric Pulmonology" in 2023. She was awarded “Outstanding Member of Year” by the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2005. She was awarded “Outstanding Dietitian of the Year” in 2019 by the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND) and "Preceptor of the Year" in 2023 by the FAND. Ellen received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Central Florida and completed a master's degree and Dietetic Internship from the University of Florida. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. |
