Call for Sports Nutrition Care Manual® (SNCM)® Board of Editors Applicants
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is issuing a call for interested applicants for multiple Board of Editors (BOE) positions for the Sports Nutrition Care Manual® (SNCM®).
The time commitment will vary and could require anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours each month. For members of the BOE who agree to larger scale projects such as revising or developing content, the time commitment will increase significantly based on writing and research style (estimate: up to 8 hours per month for a 2 to 3 month period during the editorial phase).
General Role of the BOE:
- The BOE of the SNCM® is the group of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) that advises the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) about the accuracy of SNCM® content. The EIC serves as the chair of the BOE, appointing the members of the BOE for a 3-year renewable term.
- In conjunction with the SNCM® EIC, the Board is charged with publishing scientifically credible content that is relevant to the dietetics profession, to the members of the Academy, and to interested subscribers.
- The SNCM® BOE consists of expert sports Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who, based on evidence of their expertise, represent all areas of sports dietetics practice.
- The newly appointed SNCM® BOE members will take office June 1, 2025.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Members of the SNCM® BOE are selected for their stature in the field of dietetics, their experience providing evidence-based care while using the Nutrition Care Process, their own clinical nutrition publications, a thorough understanding of evidence-based nutrition care, an appreciation for the application of the science of dietetics, expertise in a particular area(s) of dietetics practice, and cooperation in responding in a timely, helpful, constructive manner.
- Required Experience:
- Advanced degree (masters, PhD) or 8 years of experience in lieu of an advanced degree
- RDN with minimum of 5 years of experience in practice and/or research
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience related to at least one of the content areas listed below
- Effective communication and relationship skills
- Knowledge of tenets of cultural competency and inclusive language – Learn more about the Academy’s IDEA work here
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office and software programs
- Preferred Experience:
- Board Certification as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or certification in specialty area relevant to SNCM® BOE content area.
- Previous experience reviewing peer-reviewed publications and use of/familiarity with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Library, Nutrition Care Process, and SNCM®.
